About Lars Fosser
When Danish/Norwegian dramatic Baritone Lars Fosser performed Rigoletto in 2007 he was pronounced the new “super baritone” by the Danish press. “The Borse” wrote: Glowingly intense acting and with a colossal voice, a pitch black ultra masculine sound… fireworks of beauty and drama.
In 2010 he has sofar performed Mephisto/Pater Profundis/Böser Geist in Schumanns “7 Szenen aus Goethes Faust” with the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. he goes to The USA in April to study with world renowned baritone Sherrill Milnes. After that he will sing Scarpia in "Tosca" at the international opera Festival in Fredrikstad, Norway, and then goes on to Austria to sing Leporello in "Don Giovanni" at the Steyr Music Festival.
He just released his first solo cd on the label ClassicO. “The Bad Guy” containing an all Italian romantic repertoire of villains and antiheroes. He sang the role of Rigoletto on tour with the spanish compagny Opera2001 from November through primo Decembe 2009r. He then recorded Handel’s Messiah for ClassicO in December. I
Other performances last
season consisted of
Beethoven IX
symphony in Odense (live on National Danish radio) and Don Carlo in
Verdi’s Ernani in Copenhagen with Hafnia Chamber orchestra , an
arctic concert tour of Greenland with Symphonietta Artica, and
concerts with
the Ruse Philharmonic in Bulgaria.
Born in
Copenhagen, Denmark, Lars Fosser graduated from the Norwegian State
college of Operatic Arts, and subsequently went on to Study in
Florence, Italy at the Bel Canto School of Opera.
During his time in College he performed a plethora of
different roles. After
Successfully debuting as Don Giovanni first in Denmark, and then in
Berlin in 1997, and having studied in Italy the following year, he
was engaged as primo baritone at the Stadttheater in Görlitz,
Saxony, for 5 years.
There he performed the dramatic baritone repertoire, successfully
portraying such characters as: Scarpia, Rigoletto, the 4Villain from
“Hoffman’s Erzählungen”, Sharpless, Nabucco, Zurga.
He also performed at several other opera houses in Germany
and Scandinavia.
Lately Mr. Fosser
has also turned his attention towards recitals and oratory.
Performing recitals and lLiederabends as well as giving concerts with
many of the great Danish symphony orchestras.
Lars Fosser is a
laureate of several international singing competitions, and a
recipient of many awards. Though his most prized award was that of “Publikums-lliebling”
(Audience choice award) at the Theater in Görlitz in 2002/2003.
He has worked with internationally famed directors such as Götz Friedrich (+) and Georges Tabori, and conductors like Daniel Lipton, Niels Muus, Thomas Dausgaard, Prof. Rolf Reuter, Leopold Hager, Giordano Bellincampi a.o.
